Among the many hats Farmer Gene has worn (veteran, baseball coach, High School principal), Fruit Farming is his highest passion! He started his farm in the late 70s and it was not long before he decided to go Organic when he realized what the implication was for his children.
He has been farming organic orchards ever since and now has hundreds of varieties of stone fruit and citrus fruit. We can’t count how many times we have heard that “This is the BEST FRUIT I’VE EVER HAD” about Etheridge Organics fruit. Farmer Gene is part of the national Healthier Generation committee who recommends policy changes that translate into healthier communities and his leadership has inspired the work that we do in our community.
Something Good/John Givens Farm, Goleta CA – John Givens, Organic Vegetable and Fruit Farmers
John Givens began growing organic vegetables in 1980. Blessed with the beautiful coastal climate, Givens is able to grow a diversity of delicious crops from tomatoes (from may-dec!) to kale in the winter, and the best strawberries and sugar snap peas in the spring.
In addition to the wonderful climate on the central coast, the farm has rich soil and gentle topography, all of which contribute to an excellent growing year with dozens and dozens of varieties.
Ken’s Top Notch Produce, Reedley CA – Ken Lee, Organic Fruit Farmer
Ken Lee specializes in exquisite stone fruits and citrus fruits. His farm in Reedley CA is near the Sierra foothills and has some of the richest soil in the valley!
Many of our customers have fallen in love with the special varieties that Ken grows such as the Emerald Plums and Princess Grapes and of course the Mango Nectarines.
Sycamore Hill Ranch, Fillmore, CA – Will & Jeanne Stehly, Organic Fruit Farmers
Sycamore Hill Ranch, our closest farm in Fillmore, specializes in citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, grapefruits, and also, our favorite, Avocados!!
The Stehly family farm is named after the beautiful sycamore trees on the hill of the canyon that protects the farm from high winds so it can grow more specialty tropical varieties like guavas and cherimoyas.
Sunrise Organic Farm, Lompoc CA – Chuy Salas and Andrew Gibson, Organic Fruit, Herb & Veggie Farmers
Located in the rolling foothills of beautiful Lompoc, Sunrise farm is the newest farm in our farm family, getting established in 2015. Mentored by farmer John Givens, farmers Chuy and Andrew have created their own mecca of organic abundance including every type of leafy green, sweet carrots, strawberries, peas, zucchini and so much more! Oh, and did I mention how delicious the tomatoes are?!?!
Frecker Farms, Carpenteria CA – Alex Frecker, Organic Fruit, Herb & Vegetable Farmers
Alex started his own Organic farm in October 2013, branching out from John Givens Farm above. He currently grows on 18 beautiful acres just off of Casitas Pass Road in Carpenteria. He is known for growing delicious strawberries, tomatoes, and sugar snap peas to name a few.
Olson Family Farms, Kingsburg, CA- Wayne and Richard Olson, 4th Generation Organic Fruit Farmers
Olson Family Farms began in 1889 and grows some of the sweetest stone fruits around. Fourth-generation farmers Wayne and Richard continue to farm delicious stone fruits all summer long. Crunchy white peaches and August Fire are a few of the amazing stone fruits they grow.
Cuyama Orchards, New Cuyama CA – The Albano Family, Organic Apple Farmers
While not far from Los Angeles, Cuyama Orchards in New Cuyama has a microclimate that allows the apple trees to thrive! We love the fuji apples which have a nice long season and not to mention a sweet flavor and crisp texture! They also have the best Pink Lady Apples and other varieties in the early Fall.
